Switch up! Instead of inspiring you with a new location, I’ve decided to give you a little nudge to inspire yourself. I’m a little late to the Walter Mitty party, but this movie awakens the wanderlust within and makes you want to go for something that seems out of reach. The first time I saw it, I loved it. I was completely swept away into the movie. Now, it’s one of my favorites that I find myself watching simply for the imagery of it all.
Lessons Learned from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty…
1. Pay attention to what’s in front of you as well as the details in the background.
This movie is all about the background. There are quotes, messages, humor and beauty in the background of the entire movie. Watch it first for the overall greatness. Watch it again for the details.
2. Dream big….then go for it
Walter is a mundane man who dreams big but has never lived his dreams. After he starts to really live his life, he dreams less, but does more.
3. When in search for something else, you might find yourself
Walter is on the hunt for a picture he feels is very important. The beauty is, while he is so focused on finding the picture, his journey helps him find himself.
4. There is beauty in everything. It all depends on how you look at it.
Despite all that was going on in Walter’s life, he still took the chance and found the good in his situations.
5. Little things can have a huge impact
The picture is so small, but holds “the quintessence of life.” The gifts from his sister and the photographer open doors. Kindness impacts people.
6. People are multifaceted.
Walter seems to be a awkward man who zones out and would have no sense of adventure. The cast of the movie is mostly comedians. However, they aren’t just able to make you laugh, but also to make you feel, cry and relate. People aren’t always who you presume they are.
If you haven’t seen this movie, I encourage you to do so. Sean O’Connell is motioning for you to live your life!
